Manager, Information Technology job with Fairfax Water

If so, Fairfax Water is seeking a Manager, Information Technology.
Under limited supervision of the Director of Technology, the Manager will lead, plan, manage, direct, safeguards and provides the overall stewardship for the IT assets. In addition, this position will direct and manage the Information Technology Department charged with performing all aspects of the IT infrastructure strategy, architecture and processes that proactively positions Fairfax Water for future growth and success.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to (1) coordination with the technology management team, ensuring the implementation and continual updates to the strategic information technology (IT) plan for Fairfax Water encompassing the enterprise systems currently in use, providing direction in the overall management of Fairfax Water IT resources, including budgets, standards and projects (2) Advising the Technology Governance Group (senior management) and department managers on information technology (3) Managing a portfolio of IT projects and overseeing the day-to-day operation of computer system and devices, data center operations, hosting partners, voice and data communications activities and cyber security and risk management (4) Monitoring the performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure (5) Developing new network troubleshooting strategies to help reduce downtime, decrease maintenance costs and provide overall cyber security strategies (6) Creating rational strategies for upgrading the company’s network software whenever a new update is available (7) Constructing and implementing plans to ensure the company’s network continues to operate smoothly (8) Staying up to date with new network technology.
The qualifications are (1) Possession of a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, and 10 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in applying information technology to meet the needs of a government organization; or possession of a master’s degree in information technology, computer science, and 8 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in applying information technology resources, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and knowledge (2) Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and services (3) Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation (4) Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, and cyber security (5) Proficient in Microsoft Windows software, including server, office, and exchange (6) Expert knowledge of IT best practices, policies and regulations (7) Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of project management, contract management, and vendor relationships (8) Ability to work with senior management to identify business opportunities and achieve successes through effective employment of technology (9) Thorough knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and best practices (10) Thorough knowledge and understanding of information technology directions, trends, and the strategic business impact of key business, information and technology initiatives (11) Ability to predict, analyze, and manage cultural and technological changes within the organization (12) Ability to foster and maintain successful customer relationships and provide quality service (13) Ability to organize, plan, and direct a variety of complex technical operations (14) Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
