The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University (SCU) is undertaking a global search for a new Professor of Information Technology. An opportunity exists for an inspiring academic leader with a distinguished record of research and scholarship to join SCU, one of Australia’s most vibrant educational institutions.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering strives to provide game-changing new education models that bring a deeper learning experience, improving individual student outcomes and quality of life. The Faculty is looking to recruit a Professor of Information Technology in the area of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or the Internet of Things, reflecting the Faculty’s broad research strategy and multi-disciplinary collaborations which centre on Smart Environments. Nevertheless, the Professor will need to be a leader within the Faculty as much as a scholar. Reporting to the Chair of Discipline of Engineering and Information Technology, the Professor will be a mentor and inspirational exemplar to colleagues, an engaged partner with industry, an outstanding researcher, and an educator at the forefront of innovation in teaching and learning across Information Technology.
The Professor will be an intellectual leader in Information Technology who is collegiate, generous and respected in the discipline while being curious and creative in transcending it. This person will be able to help foster a culture of excellence in industry partnerships, research, teaching and professional practice that encourages collaboration, innovation and the free exchange of ideas.
