Golf Networking Party to Tee Off Gulf Digital Infrastructure Week

W.Media’s Gulf Digital Infrastructure Week will begin on October 20 in Dubai with a friendly round of Golf. Over 70 of the movers and shakers of the Middle East’s thriving Cloud and Data Center industry are expected to come together at TopGolf Dubai, Emirates Golf Club, for an evening of networking over a sport that is renowned for helping players learn how to focus and aim better.

“Golf has, over the decades, evolved as an opportunity to network in a relaxed environment,” says, Naveen Lawrence (Director – Sales, South Asia & Middle East, W.Media). “It has been the sport of choice for those who want to build professional relationships in a more casual and recreational manner. That’s why we decided to begin our Gulf Digital Infrastructure Week with a Golf Networking Party.”

The next day, i.e on October 21, select delegates will be taken to a data center facility of a renowned UAE-based telecommunications and digital infrastructure company, that is also a sponsor for the Dubai Cloud & Datacenter Convention that will take place on October 22 at The Conrad, Dubai.

This will be an exclusive day-long convention, that will see participation from over 1,000 of the crème de la crème of the data center industry. These include experts and thought leaders, including C-level executives, digital infrastructure professionals including architects, engineers and consultants (AECs), key buyers, decision makers, data center owners and operators. Delegates hail, not only from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but also its neighbouring countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This is the third edition of the Dubai CDC.

Our Speakers and Panelists

We have a stellar line-up of speakers including industry leaders such as Kamel Al Tawil (MD – MENA, Equinix), Mazen Sharaiha (COO, Gulf Data Hub), Yash Issur (CEO, Nxtra Africa), Ras Scollay (Director, Data Center Business, du), and many more. Among our speakers and panelists are industry experts and analysts such as Colm Shorten (Senior Director, Data Centers, JLL), Stephen Beard (Global Head, Data Centers, Knight Frank), Syed Mohamed Beary (Founder, Beary’s Group) and Sandeep Dandekar (Data Center Expert).

In fact Beard has also authored a special piece on Saudi Arabia’s exciting data center market for the special Middle East supplement of W.Media’s Cloud & Datacenter Magazine, that will be showcased at the Gulf Digital Infrastructure Week. “With a rapidly expanding digital economy, fuelled by increasing internet penetration and a young, tech-savvy population, there is a burgeoning demand for data storage and management solutions in KSA,” writes Beard, adding, “The kingdom’s push towards digital transformation presents a significant opportunity for data centre growth. The expansion of cloud services, big data analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications create a substantial demand for data storage and processing capabilities.”

This year we also have a special all-woman panel where we are bringing together women professionals and pioneers from the technology industry discuss the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the rapidly evolving digital infrastructure landscape in the Middle East. Moderated by Donna Lorenzen (APAC Regional Chair and Global Board Member, iMWomen, and Founder HerWorX), the panel will include Priyanka Nagpal (Data Center Lead, Consulting – MEA, JLL), Oumkeltoum Loudiyi (Sr. Projects Manager, Sudlows Consulting), Linoy Kidd (CIO – Markets and Securities Services, MENAT, HSBC Bank Middle East), and Fadwa AlBawardi (Founder & CEO, FSAB Consulting).

In fact, Nagpal is upbeat about Dubai and says, “The city has emerged as a prominent data center destination in the Middle East due to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and business-friendly policies.” She elaborates, saying, “It offers robust and reliable power and connectivity through fiber networks, which is further supported by government initiatives designed to foster the growth of AI and data center advancement. Additionally, Dubai’s position as a gateway to emerging markets in the region further enhances its appeal for companies looking to expand their digital presence.”
