Van Meter Inc. announced June 26 that Martina Schubert has joined the company’s leadership team as Chief Information Officer.

Ms. Schubert, an accomplished information technology executive, brings more than 25 years of experience in information technology, transformational leadership, enterprise system management, business intelligence and cybersecurity.

Before joining Van Meter, Ms. Schubert served in various technology and leadership roles at companies including Maytag International, Walgreens, Blyth HomeScents International, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, Continental Western Group and DLL Financial Solutions. Most recently, she served as the Chief Technology Officer at Coviance, a fintech company based in Des Moines, where she was recognized as one of the Most Powerful Women in Fintech by Progress in Lending in 2021 and 2022.

“Martina’s impressive background in the technology space, as well as her commitment to process improvement and making business operations more connected, efficient and secure, make her a great fit for her new role at Van Meter,” Van Meter President and CEO Lura McBride said in a release. “We welcome Martina to our team and look forward to her contributions to our future growth and success.”

According to Ms. Schubert, her passion for information technology took hold while taking a high school computer programming class. After graduation, she earned an associate degree in computer programming at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and furthered her business education at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa’s Tippie School of Management.

She currently serves as chairperson of the board of directors for Tech Journey and as an advisor at Indian Hills Community College for their technology curriculum. Outside of work, she participates in and supports several cycling organizations.
